Powerful Earthquake Hits Southern California

Magnitude-4.4 Quake Rattles Los Angeles and Surrounding Areas

A powerful earthquake struck Southern California on Monday afternoon, shaking homes and startling residents for miles.

The United States Geological Survey reported that the magnitude-4.4 quake struck at 2:38 p.m. local time, with its epicenter located near the city of San Bernardino.

The quake was felt as far away as San Diego and Las Vegas. There were no immediate reports of major damage or injuries.

This is the second earthquake to hit Southern California in recent days. On Saturday, a magnitude-3.5 quake struck near the city of Ridgecrest.

Seismologists say it is too early to say if the two quakes are related.
